          The Guessing Game

The Guessing Game is a game that formulates randomness for players to guess a number given a range of numbers. This range of numbers the host selects is on initial set up of the game and is the base start for players. What is unique about the guessing game is that the host selects a random number within the range of numbers. That random number is a secret number only the host knows and the players try to guess the secret number. If the players guess the random secret number correctly, they are awarded with a lollipop that they can have. The question that the players ask themselves as they play towards the goal is, “What are my actions to my lollipop?”

The game has rules for the players to abide by in order to win without confliction, ambiguity, and misunderstanding. The rules state that the host has the ability to select a player of choice and ask their guessing number. While the player selected is guessing, only that player may speak. This is an action for the player. But, is the action meaningful to the player?

A meaningful action is something that allows player freedom to choose a path they want while given a selection of choices. The player has the action to state their number when selected by the host. Is the choice to state a number a meaningful action? The answer is ultimately no. While the player has the ability to state a number within the range, they only get to say one number. Which is not a path of choices; the one number is the only choice.

If the player does not guess the correct number then the player has to pass their turn to the next player. During the time the players are not selected, they must pick involuntary a number in their head. Once the player has picked a number, they must remain silent until selected by the host to guess. The most meaningful choice that the player has in The Guessing Game is the choice of numbers within the range. The choices are the different numbers the player can come up with. Because there are many numbers, there are that many choices for a meaningful action.

The Guessing Game ends when a player wins the round by guessing the secret number or the host is out of lollipops. It is essential for players to strive amongst the other players and obtain the lollipop by guessing the secret number. Meaningful action must take place inside a player as they wait for their turn. Deciding and picking carefully a number the other players will not guess. If a selected player guesses a number another player had and was wrong, then the other player knows to change their guessing number.

There are actions within The Guessing Game that the player has such as to speak when selected, to think, and to guess. But there is only one decisive meaningful action amongst those three actions. To think of the secret number and chose which number within the range is the key to a lollipop. While the actions of the game are small for the player, the goal ultimately drives the players to succeed. The success of choosing the right number and guessing the secret is the bliss of the game after obtaining a lollipop.
